NCH Healthcare System Reminds Us All: 

• Avoid large gatherings for the next 30 days to slow the spread.
• This is not the same virus. The new variants are much more transmittable and at least 5x more contagious than previous COVID variants.
• NCH Healthcare System is seeing younger people sicker and are even seeing more pediatric patients with COVID.
• New variants are coming, and we must stop the spread of COVID before more lives are lost and our healthcare system reaches capacity.
• As a community we aspire to immunity. Dr. Poland, Director of the Vaccine Research Group at the Mayo Clinic confirms that herd immunity through immunization is the fastest way to immunity.
• Getting the vaccine is a personal heath decision. If you have questions or concerns the NCH Healthcare System strongly encourages you to reach out to your primary care physician.
• They now have pregnant patients in hospital with COVID, and average age of patient is now 58. NCH Healthcare System has many more patients under 40 than they did a year ago.
