I don’t have kids yet, but I do have a niece who lives in Orlando. Also my brother and his son are moving to Florida soon and they are not sure what city they want to move to yet. I asked him what he was looking for and one of the qualities was a “good school district.”  Your Childs education is important, and this is something many families look at before moving to an area.

Ramsey Solutions created a list of the best school districts in Florida. Below is a list of 8 out of 67 school districts that stand out in Florida.  These districts are considered the best based on college readiness, teacher quality, graduation rate and test scores. Hopefully the school district that you are moving to or live in is on the list below.

  • St. Johns county

    The St Johns County school district is located in Northeastern Florida. If you are familiar with St. Augustine, then you know exactly where this school district is. This district has 46 schools in total and the high schools in this area have a 94% graduation rate.  The entire state of Florida has a graduation rate of 90%.

  • Sarasota County

    This school district is home to 54 of Florida’s public schools. This district has a 14 to 1 student to teacher ratio.They have several programs to challenge high achieving high school students with advance placement and advanced international certificate of Education programs.

  • Okaloosa county

    This school district is located in Fort Walton Beach. This district is also home to one of the best school’s in Florida. Niceville Senior high school has a graduation rate of 98%. Also in 2018 and 2020 Niceville won the GreatSchools College success award!

  • Seminole County

    This school district is located in the greater Orlando Area. 92% of the students in this district pass their 8th grade Algebra 1 class while only 33% pass in the rest of Florida. Seminole County is also the best school district in Florida for calculus and physics enrollment.

  • Martin County

    This is a small school district in Florida and has only 36 schools.  Even though it’s small, high school graduates from this district pursue higher learning and are more likely to return to college for a second year. They have a great middle school ( Hidden Oaks) that is top rated in the district for academic progress and test scores.

  • Collier County

    Majority of the schools in this district rate above average in quality. They also out perform state averages in Geometry, Algebra and Biology. The standout school is this district is Mason Classical Academy. The student progress at Mason is far above the states average.

  • Clay County

    This school district is located in the metro Jacksonville area and has a student to teacher ratio of 15 to 1. One of the best schools in this district is Orange Park Elementary. 100% of the kids at this elementary school are performing at or above grade level in science.

  • Santa Rosa County

    This school district is located in Florida’s panhandle and has 39 schools with over 28K students. 12% of high schoolers here participate in dual enrollment. This is above the state average of 7%. Pace high school in this district earned the Great Schools college Success award in 2020. This was based on its success with  preparing students for college and a career.
