Mary J. Blige is on a roll after being praised for her acting chops on 50 Cent’s Power Book II: Ghost, her upcoming Super Bowl performance with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem. Two days before that performance, she’s dropped her 15th studio album, Good Morning Gorgeous.
Good Morning Gorgeous is a 13-track project with features from Anderson .Paak, Fivio Foreign, Dave East, DJ Khaled, and Usher. The theme of this album Mary credits to self-acceptance and being her own “best friend.”
“Wait till you hear it, it’s gonna blow everybody’s mind,” said Mary on the Tamron Hall Show, per The Source.“And it’s because it’s something I had to do. And something I had to say when I was in my darkest, darkest moments in that life, to build myself up to this person that I can see and accept my nose, accept my eyes, accept my cheeks, accept all the things that I used to hate.”
She said that self-love starts as soon as you open your eyes in the morning, “When I wake up with no hair and makeup, I’m accepting that chick that goes to the bathroom and I like her,” adding, “I hang out with myself a lot. I’m my own best friend.”
Good Morning Gorgeous is the first album Mary has dropped since joining 300 Entertainment and is released in conjunction with her company Mary Jane Productions and the label. Good Morning Gorgeous follows her 2017 album Strength Of A Woman.
