It’s mid-April so you may be slow but not too late for Summer camp in Tampa.  Whether you have little athletes or inquisitive thinkers, you’re behind the 8 ball if you haven’t decided.  An informal poll, around the radio station, found products of math, basketball, and baseball and science camps. In addition some of the crew did full-on, sleep away camps, in cabins but all described their time as awesome.  As parents, we all want the same for our little people, so whichever side of the bay you reside, it’s not too late for Summer camp in Tampa.

If your kids are fascinated by sea life, Clearwater Marine Aquarium has a fun and educational setup that offers lessons in and outside of the water.  Something for all ages, from kindergarten to high schoolers, the season begins June 5th, so there’s time, but not much.  Your full information packet is linked here, but the lessons are much more than watching Dolphin Tale.  Talk about a Summer to remember.

For the exciting ages of 2 thru 8 years old, Soccer Shots is an incredibly fun and learning experience for your future FIFA stars.  These activities are centered around a 3 C’s philosophy of coaching, communication and curriculum.  The best aspect is with such tender aged athletes, the training is age appropriate and in line with the educational standards that the kids are learning in regular studies.  All info regarding a summer with Soccer Shots is here.

St. Pete Parks and Recreation have youth and teen camp offerings at recreation centers as well as nature camps at Boyd Hill.  There is also a teen tech camp and a junior lifeguard camp (which I find beneficial for entertainment and home water safety).  As a teenage lifeguard myself, that camp has a special place in my heart.  Imagine an 8th grader saving his mom, from drowning, in the backyard.  Thanks to that same training, tragedy avoided.   Click here for information available on camp times and locations.

  • Summer at Shorecrest
