Here is a list of some of the Tampa Bay Area 9/11 Memorial events. Saturday is the 20th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. What happened that day touched all Americans. In addition to the national ceremonies scheduled for the day, many events are planned in the Tampa Bay area as well.

20 years later, today is a time to remember the heroes, those who died, those who survived, and those who carry on.

 

  • St. Pete 9/11 Memorial Unveiling

    The memorial called Rise St. Pete will be located on the 22nd Street Corridor in the Warehouse Arts District. The centerpiece will consist of a nine-foot-fall, 4,000-pound steel beam, the last one removed from the World Trade Center.

    The official unveiling is Saturday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

  • Polk County “Honoring Our Heroes”

    This event honors all military, law enforcement, fire and EMS personnel on the 20th anniversary of 9/11. The free event is at 5 p.m. on Sept. 11 at South Central Park in downtown Winter Haven.

  • Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Ranch Run

    Join the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Ranch Run being held on Patriot Day, September 11th, 2021. 

    Get involved with members of the community as they commemorate the 20th anniversary of nearly 3,000 lives lost at the World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan, the Pentagon in Washington, DC and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

    Those joining will have the option of participating in a 5k, 10k, 15k or bring the family for our 1 Mile Walk.

    There will be a national moment of silence at 8:46am to remember the lives lost on that tragic day. This event will be held at Temple Terrace Elementary School (124 Flotto Ave, Temple Terrace, FL 33617). More info >>

  • Palm Harbor 9/11 Memorial Service

    Curlew Hills Memory Gardens, located at 1750 Curlew Road, Palm Harbor, will host its 20th anniversary 9/11 memorial service Saturday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. The venue recommends to arrive early as parking is limited and once parking lot is full admission will be closed.  Garrett Lindgren, Retired FDNY is the keynote speaker and Lee Greenwood is the musical guest.

  • Palm Harbor 9/11 Memorial Lights

    On September 9, 10 and 11, from 8 – 10:00 pm, the Palm Harbor 9/11 Memorial Lights will shine at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens. The giant twin beams will shine more than 1000 feet in the sky each evening in likeness to the two beams of light that shined in New York City following 9-11. People are encouraged to drive by the Curlew Hills 9/11 Memorial as they light up the night sky as a beacon of remembrance. It is a magnificent and emotional sight for the whole family.

    This light tribute is a unique, and spectacular gesture of remembrance that will illuminate the sky on the evening of September 9, 10 & 11. It is the only 9/11 light memorial in the state of Florida.

    The purpose of the lights is to serve as an iconic symbol that both honors those lives lost and celebrates the unbreakable spirit of America.

    Curlew Hills is located at 1750 Curlew Road, Palm Harbor.
