To determine this list, researchers at Upgraded Points analyzed the latest data from the Census Bureau’s 2021 American community survey and the Federal Trade Commission’s Consumer Sentinel Network Data Book 2022. The researchers ranked locations by the largest reported credit card fraud incidents per 10,000 residents. If there was a tie, the metropolitan area with the largest total number of credit card fraud reports was ranked higher.
Keep in mind, only areas with at least 100,000 people were included in this examination. Credit card fraud of every kind has increased. These scammers are getting very creative, so please be careful. Also, never give your credit card information to anyone you don’t know. Watch who you let borrow your cellphone as well. Some scammers will take your phone, act like they are using it but really they are just trying to access your bank and credit card information.
