Family Has Close Call With Washing Machine
A Colorado mother has taken to Facebook to warn parents about the dangers of front-loading washing machines and households with young children.
The McIver family had just bought a new washing machine and told their two children, ages 4 and 3, not to play with it. But kids being kids, they didn’t listen.
Lindsey McIver was woken up by her 4 year old son pointing out that his younger sibling was trapped inside as the machine filled with water.
By the time we reached the laundry room in the basement, my three-year-old daughter Kloe was LOCKED inside the airtight washing machine. It was tumbling and filling with water. She was screaming but you couldn’t hear her. – Lindsey McIver
Thankfully they were able to get her out and she only suffered a couple of small bumps on her head.
In McIver’s viral post, which has been shared over 300,000 times, she implores anyone with a front loader to install a child safety lock to prevent this from happening to anyone else.
