Family-Fun Activity: Go-Karting At K1 Speed
If you’re looking for a family-fun activity, boy do I have an activity for you. It’s not only It can also help you get the need for speed out of your system. It doesn’t matter if you’re by yourself, on a date, or trying to organize a company event. I’m willing to bet everyone would love to go go-karting at K1 Speed.
Family-Fun Activity: K1 Speed
Located at 3404 Cragmont Drive in Tampa, K1 Speed serves as an indoor go-kart racing facility everyone can go to. You just have to fulfill their height requirements. With two challenging indoor tracks, the Paddock Lounge restaurant, and its own arcade, K1 has everything you need for whatever occasion. They even have meeting rooms with A/V connections just in case you’re looking for a spot for your next work function.
What puts K1 Speed above other go-karting facilities is the fact that K1 uses 100-percent all-electric karts. These high-performance machines produce tremendous torque and horsepower from advanced electric motors. Not only will these karts outperform their gas-powered counterparts, but also be better for the environment, quieter, and arguably, easier to drive. K1 also provides you with helmets that have Go-Pro slots if you would like to record yourself driving. Don’t use your cell phones on the track though! It is very easy for you to drop it on the track while you’re driving and no one is going to stop If you’re a germaphobe like some people I know (cough cough Meredith) they do provide you with a racing mask.
Not only does K1 have packages for kid-birthdays, but also teen and adult birthdays as well. Getting married? K1 even has bachelor party packages. They even do Bar and Bat Mitzvahs! To book your group of 8 or more, go to k1speed.com/groups-parties or call 1-813-341-6300.
K1 Speed is open Sunday through Thursday till 10pm. However, they are open till midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. You do have to sign a waiver to be allowed to race, but you can fill one out beforehand if you go to k1speed.com/arrive-and-drive.html#waivers.

Tampa Bay Spots You Can Go For An '80s Date Night
Tampa Bay has no shortage of options when it comes to date spots. You’ve got some of the best beaches in the world right down the street with award-winning restaurants. Between the Bucs, Lightning, and the Rays, you can catch just about any of these teams playing throughout the year. But, what if you’re looking for something different? Here are a few spots for an ’80s-themed date night in Tampa Bay.
Picture this: It’s a Friday night and there’s no internet and no cell phones. You just locked in a date night with the chick you’ve been sweet on and the bowling alley is going cosmic. The neon lights are flashing through the cigarette smoke lining the lanes as the synthesizers play the soundtrack to your night like you’re starring in the next John Hughes movie.
We’ve seen the dating world change tremendously over the last few decades with the addition of dating apps and modern technology. Face-to-face relationships have been traded in for algorithm updates and the not-so-secretive “Netflix & Chill” DMs.
Movie theaters aren’t even exclusively playing most new blockbuster hits (RIP Blockbuster). These days, you can rent the biggest movies right in your own home and watch from your couch. This wins the convenience factor, but it takes away from the experience.
What activities can you do to throw it back to a time before smart tech took over? We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite date night activities that have stood the test of time. Spend the night cracking the whip under the disco ball at the local roller rink. Or, maybe you want to go head-to-head in Pac-Man in a dim light arcade. Want to catch the next showing at a drive-in theater? Whatever it is, we’ve got you covered.
Here are the spots you can go for an ‘80s theme date night in Tampa Bay.
Rich grew up in the Bronx, NY but moved to Tampa in 2006 to attend the University of Tampa. Even though he completed 4 years at the University for Sports Management, Ortiz realized his true passion for radio after taking a couple of classes to fulfill his communications minor and volunteering at UT's WUTT radio station as a sports director. Rich also worked at several clubs in Tampa as a host/promoter where he would meet and work alongside Davy Rolando, who would be the one who would help him get a job at WiLD 94.1. From there, Rich worked his way up from Promotions assistant to promotions coordinator, to eventually full-time on-air. Rich loves to write about his favorite Tampa food spots, concert reviews, and the WiLDest Florida man/woman stories.
