Orlando & The Freakshow

After reading the 200 greatest singers list, we felt it was only right to showcase the singers that Rolling Stone missed. There are only 200 slots so we can’t have all artists. In addition, in starts in 1930’s with blues musician and singer Robert Johnson.  93 years is a lot of ground to cover. Rolling Stone, like most longstanding establishments, mailed it in and missed too many.  We feel Burna Boy, Alicia Keys, El Debarge, and Ozzy all gotta go. Awesome artists but again we’re talking GREATEST. Here are the singers that Rolling Stone missed.

Now this list isn’t best songs, best tour or most awards, it’s a singers list, so these may sting.  No one loves Aaliyah more than I do, but she can’t be in the top 200.  Taylor Swift is one of the best talents, in the industry, but greatest?  Not many would say that.  Pictured above, at the Wakanda Forever premiere, Rihanna provided a huge moment with the movie’s “Lift Me Up”. Written by Tems, who has an incredible voice herself. The song is wrought with emotion but Riri’s singing voice alone was not the draw.  The Weeknd and Courtney Love have lots of talent, but never should be listed as the greatest either.  Now that you’re mad, wanna see our list?

  • Justin Timberlake

This omission stands out so much, for fans of his work with NSYNC, solo and all the collaborations. This performance is LIVE and shows a performance that is likened to the old, Vegas revue of Sinatra, Sammy and the Rat Pack. A little Jay-Z doesn’t hurt either.

  • Bruno Mars

There aren’t many artists who hit the ground, running full speed, like Bruno Mars.  Leaving him off of a list of the Greatest 200 singers criminal.

  • Celine Dion

The fact that Celine Dion, after announcing her recent medical struggles, gets disregarded for her amazing talent, voice, and abilities is sinful.  This woman is the quintessential singer and truly is incredible.  Shame on you Rolling Stone.

  • H.E.R.

Gabi Wilson performs under the name H.E.R, which stands for “having everything revealed” and she’s probably the closest to a mixture of Alicia Keys, Prince, and Lauryn Hill.  She plays her piano and guitar incredibly, writes and raps but her singing is next level.  Enjoy the spirit and raw talent of H.E.R.!

  • Charlie Puth

Charlie Puth has a prolific pen, amazing musicianship and a voice that is superstar status.  All those characteristics work together to make him one of the new guns, in the male artist community.  His voice is the co-star with Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” but he has serious hits.

  • John Legend

One of the few EGOTs (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award winners), John Legend began as the piano man for all Kanye West music.  His vocals and skills, on the keys, built many of those songs we love from early Ye.  His Oscar win was this pairing with his former G.O.O.D Music brothers Common, for the motion picture “Selma”.  This is powerful.  This pairing is LEGEND!

  • Brian McKnight

This omission is personally offensive to me.  Brian McKnight has been SANGIN since college.  He went to Oakwood (Seventh-Day Adventist College) along with his brother Claude V. McKnight (one of the founding members of the acapella group Take 6).  Realizing that the gospel wasn’t his path and his love for the more romantic side, he journeyed out solo and became a vocal superstar.  Check out this taste of this guy.  Crazy!

  • Ed Sheeran

To see Ed live, is amazing because of his musicianship, his connection to the audience and his great voice.  Check out the gingerbread man, Mister Ed Sheeran.

  • Tori Kelly

One of the purest voices, in the game, belongs to Tori Kelly.  She visited us, in the WiLD studio and blew our minds.  If you haven’t heard her stuff, whether her own music, performing with others or even in the animated film “Sing”, get familiar with her.  We’ll show you both because we love her and she’s super dope!

  • Janet Jackson

Do we even have to discuss why this woman has to be in the top 200?  Janet Jackson is an ICON and for the likes of Alicia Keys, Rihanna, and Aaliyah being on the list and the woman who inspired them isn’t is just a mess!  For Meredith, let’s make the Janet submission her favorite.  Enjoy Miss Jackson with Busta Rhymes

  • Sam Smith

A true vocalist, Sam Smith is very deserving of being on the Greatest 200 Singers and Rolling Stone has bumped it’s magazine head for not including this sweet falsetto and really talented singing song man!
