Rich Homie Quan who was supposed to be one of the headliners for the “Never Give Up Festival” has died and his family wants answers! I first met Rich Homie back in 2016 when he performed in Fort Myers. Fast forward to 2019, I now live in St. Petersburg where he has done several shows in the area. Every time I seen Rich Homie, he was very nice, humble and encouraging when it came to my radio career. Devastated isn’t even the word to describe how I felt when hearing that he passed away today.

There are many rumors going around as to what may have happened but according to TMZ, his family is still looking for answers. Many of the blogs are saying he died after taking one bad pill. He was so young and had so much life ahead of him. Rich Homie Quan, whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar has died at the age of 34. He leaves behind his 4 kids. May he rest in peace.

Rehab Was The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me

I have a soft spot for people who are addicted to drugs because I once was. It’s not confirmed what happened to Rich Homie Quan but if what’s being said is true, we are losing to many young people to pills. What’s happening is that a lot of these pills are being laced with Fentanyl. If you know someone who is addicted please encourage them to get help. I thank god everyday that my coworkers pushed me to go to rehab. It changed my life and one of the reasons why Im still here today. If you are addicted and need someone to talk to, feel free to email me Babs@wild941.com.

Hip Hop Stars We Have Lost In 2024

The year is not over yet and we have already lost many who made an impact in the world of Hip Hop. Below are 3 other hip hop stars we have lost this year.

  • Fat Man Scoop

Hot 97 Brings The Holiday Spirit To Harlem

I consider Fat Man Scoop to be one of the best Hype Men to ever do it in Hip Hop. One of my favorite songs that he was featured on is Lose Control By Missy Elliot and Ciara. Sadly, on August 30th he collapsed on stage during a performance in Connecticut. He was rushed to the hospital but the next day he was pronounced dead.  He leaves behind 2 children.

  • Beat King

When a Beat King song comes on, the club is going to turn up for sure. Born in Houston, he was known for working with legends like Drake, Paul Wall, Bun B and Chamillionaire. One of my favorite songs produced by him is called “And Leave.” On August 15th he died after suffering a pulmonary embolism . He leaves behind 2 daughters.

  • Julio Foolio

Julio Foolio was a popular rapper from Jacksonville. Some say he is the one who started “Drill” rap in Duval County. On June 23rd he was gunned down at a Holiday Inn in Tampa. Four of the suspects are in custody. The 5th suspect is still on the run. He leaves behind his mother and sister.
