Every weekend I like to go jogging in my neighborhood. If you jog as well, or walk to get to your destination, this is an important article for you to read. “This Florida City is the most deadliest for pedestrians in the United States.” Can you guess which Florida City it is? I live in St.Petersburg and Im glad that it is not on this list.

5 Florida Cities Are Deadly For Pedestrians

According to a recent study, last year pedestrian deaths reached a 41-year high. More than 7,500 people were hit while walking. They say it is more dangerous to be a pedestrian than it has been in 40 years.

Jonathan Adkins who is the CEO of the Governors Highway Safety Association released a statement saying “Every day, 20 people go for a walk and do not return home. These are people living their daily lives commuting to and from school and work, picking up groceries, walking the dog, getting some exercise  who died suddenly and violently.”  The Governors Highway Safety Association is the organization that conducted this study.

Money Geek took a closer look at the federal data to find where pedestrians are mostly dying. Many of the cities on this list are in the south. 5 are in Florida! Can you guess which ones? You will see below.

Watch Out For Pedestrians

Please be careful while driving, especially at night. Watch for people walking! There is a big problem with people speeding down residential areas as well. SLOW IT DOWN! When I lived in Fort Myers, there was actually a little kid hit and killed while waiting at the bus stop.

I still remember that story and it makes me sad. If you are walking, its important that you also watch out for cars. Wearing bright colors is a must when walking at night.

Below are 5 Florida cities that are deadly for pedestrians. I have also included the Florida City that is The Most Deadliest For Pedestrians In The United States.
