Breast Cancer Awareness Month
About
WiLD 94.1 is proud to partner with 1-800-Ask Gary to Go Pink this October to help educate and raise awareness of breast cancer issues while celebrating the courageous women and men whose lives have been touched by this disease.
According to the National Cancer Institute, in 2017, it is estimated that there will be 252,710 new cases of female breast cancer diagnosed.
While breast cancer remains the most common cancer women in the U.S. are diagnosed with, behind skin cancers, there is good news on the battle against this disease.
The SEER Cancer Statistics Review, 1975-2012 reported that overall breast cancer death rates decreased 36% from 1989 to 2012. No doubt that the progress made in new treatments available to fight breast cancer along with major strides in education and screening resulting in early detection played a role slowing the toll of this terrible disease.
But the fight is far from over.
All month, we’ll be featuring stories, information, and ideas designed to inspire each of us to continue to support those battling breast cancer, celebrate those who survive and honoring those who lost their fight.
