A Warning For Women Who Use Yoga Mats
A new study conducted by a group at Harvard University suggests that yoga mats, among other common items, may lead to infertility.
The culprit in products such as yoga mats, phone cases, sofas and more is a flame retardant chemical called organophosphate.
It is believed the chemical is absorbed through the skin and harbored inside the body.
According to the study, women who are regularly exposed to organophosphate appear to have a reduced chance of conceiving.
To come to this conclusion, researchers collected urine samples from more than 200 women during the time they were undergoing in vitro fertilization.
Additionally, the study found that women who had a higher concentration of organophosphate in their bloodstream had almost a 40 percent chance of going into early labor.
