Ex Victoria’s Secret Model Slams Brand On TikTok
Ex-Victoria’s Secret model Bridget Malcolm has gone viral on TikTok after criticizing the what she says is the brand’s toxic culture and calling out their “performative allyship.”
In the video that has garnered over 2.5 million views, the 29-year-old revealed how she was unhealthy and underweight back when she modeled in their 2016 fashion show.
Titled, “Times the fashion industry has sucked pt. 5,” Malacom accompanied the post with the caption: “too little too late Victoria’s Secret.”
Malcolm is referring to the lingerie company’s announcement that their “Angels” will be replaced by the “VS Collective,” which will consist of athletes, actors and activists representing the brand such as Priyanka Chopra Jonas; professional soccer player Megan Rapinoe; professional skier Eileen Gu; activist Amanda de Cadenet; and models Paloma Elsesser, Adut Akech, and Valentina Sampaio.
In the video, Malcolm shows a glittery bra she found that she wore during the 2016 Victoria’s Secret annual fashion show revealing it was a size 30A — a size that isn’t even sold to the public at Victoria’s Secret stores. “I am now a size 34B. Which is healthy for me,” she wrote while wearing the small bra over her new one.
With a frown, Malcolm then described how she was “rejected from the show in 2017” by someone at the Victoria’s Secret team named Ed Razek, who told her that “my body did not look good enough.”
The model included a few images of herself during the 2016 show wearing the sparkly bra and reflects, “Look how big it was on me. The sadness behind my eyes from the 2016 show breaks my heart.”
Malcolm concluded her video with one more dig to the brand writing, “Victoria’s Secret, your performative allyship is a joke.”
One user commented on the video that has now received almost 307,000 likes writing, “i don’t get why models ‘have’ to be like this or like that. models are supposed to show stuff for the human and every human is different.”
“The fact they never sold 30A to the public but for models,” wrote another.
Someone else further asked, “They actually make smaller than a 32 band??”
“This company is a joke,” one user wrote.
