The Tampa Bay Lightning are back at Amalie Arena this week to kick off their 30th season in the NHL. Even if you’re not a hockey fan, chances are you like free stuff. This year when the Bolts win, so do you at some Tampa area fast food favorites. Here’s the rundown for this season.
Chick-fil-A
Yup! It’s back. The most popular freebie every year is the one from Chick-fil-A. If the Lightning win at Amalie Arena, you get an option to choose between a 5-count regular or grilled nuggets. You have to wait until the final horn sounds. Then about 30 minutes later, open the Chick-fil-A mobile app. The free offer should pop up for you automatically when you open the Chick-fil-A app. Sometimes they’re not fast so if you don’t see it, quit the app and keep trying. You have until midnight to claim the freebie in the app. You then get your free nuggets the next day… or on Monday if the game was played on Saturday night since Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays.
Wendy’s
This is the one where Vasy comes in clutch. If the Lightning shut out their opponent (keep them from scoring), you get a free Double Stack burger at Wendy’s. You also get that free burger if the Lightning score 4 goals – even if the Lightning ends up losing. You have 24 hours to claim the freebie. You just have to tell the Wendy’s employee taking your order. It’s a good idea to have the tweet from the Lightning on your phone ready to show them. The Bolts always tweet a reminder to get the free burger. And sometimes Wendy’s newer employees aren’t aware of the promotion.
Papa John’s
This one’s not a freebie, but a Lighting win means a half-price pizza at Papa John’s the next day. Just put in the promo code BOLTSW when you order online to get the discount.
