Only 1 U.S. City In America Scored Worse For Inflation For 2023 Than Tampa
And yup, it’s another Florida city! The numbers are out for the year over year comparisons for inflation around the country. According to Wallet Hub, both of the worst two cities for inflation are here in Florida. And unfortunately for us, Tampa is one of them.
They used information from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics to compare 23 cities. Data was pulled from the Consumer Price Index from September 2022 and compared with the numbers last month.
They say inflation has actually slowed significantly around the country this past year after a rough 2022. If you want the cities where inflation hasn’t been a problem, head to Denver, Chicago, St. Louis, Phoenix or San Francisco. They were the 5 cities with the LOWEST consumer price index change year over year. But here in Florida, it’s a different story.
The big 3 cities with the biggest inflation problems? #3 went to Riverside / San Bernardino in California. We here in Tampa / St. Pete / Clearwater came in at #2 with a 4.9% consumer price index change compared to last year. Where is inflation worst? Another Florida city holds that honor. It probably will be of no surprise to anyone who lives here that it was Miami and Fort Lauderdale that has been hit the hardest with a 7.8% consumer price index change since 2022! Ouch.
