Biden Pushes ‘Shots At The Shop’ Asking 1,000 Black Owned Beauty Salons And Barbers To Administer COVID-19 Vaccine
President Biden wants you to get your vaccine shot while you get your hair done! He has a goal of getting 70% of Americans fully vaccinated by July 4th and wants to involve the Black community in order to get everything accomplished.
His brand new initiative called “Shots At The Shop” are recruiting and training 1,000 Black-owned beauty salons and barbershops to administer and promote the COVID-19 vaccinations. He collaborating with Black Coalition Against COVID, popular beauty brand SheaMoisture and the University of Maryland Center for Health Equity to get things rolling.
“The conversations happen naturally, and by having barbers and stylists gain insight and knowledge about how vaccines work and their key mechanisms, that information can be spread to the rest of the community through a trusted messenger” said Cameron Webb, a senior health equity adviser on the administration’s coronavirus response team.
