Twitter can be a ruthless place and today DaBaby is experiencing that. The “Suge” rapper is getting clowned on the app because his ticket sales for a New Orleans show were so low that his concert was canceled.
According to a report from local New Orleans outlet Nola, DaBaby was scheduled to perform a show this Friday, Sept. 2, at the Smoothie King Center. However, the promoter apparently canceled the show because ticket sales appeared to be “fewer than 500 for an arena with a concert capacity of 14,000 or more.” The outlet reports that tickets were as low as $35 and that barely any tickets were sold.
The event page for the concert reads, “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event. No action is required to obtain a refund. It will be processed to the original method of payment used at time of purchase, once funds are received from the Event Organizer, which is usually completed within 30 days. If the Event Organizer is offering a credit option, it will be visible within the Event Details of your order, which can be found in your Ticketmaster account. Please Note: If the tickets were transferred to you, the refund will go to the fan who originally purchased the tickets from Ticketmaster.”
Concert promoter Greg Pulver said, according to Nola, “We’re working on a future date and possibly additional performers.” As to whether DaBaby would still be in the lineup, he said, “Most likely, yes.” He noted that there were “a number of business reasons why we saw best to do that.” DaBaby’s booking agency claims that they were the ones who made the decision to cancel the show, after the promoters did not fulfill the terms of their contract.
The rapper has not spoken out about the event cancelation as of yet.
