Tampa: This New 15 Acre Lagoon Looks Amazing
MetroLagoons has officially opened its newest “paradise site.” The Mirada Lagoon, right outside Tampa is 15 acres, and it looks absolutely amazing. Located at 31461 Mirada Blvd, in San Antonio, this lagoon is the newest addition to Metro’s already impressive Tampa area lineup. They claim the new Mirada location is the biggest lagoon in Florida.
“From our thrilling water slide to our floating obstacle course, and kayaks to paddle boards, there is always adventure waiting for you in our clear, blue waters,” their site explains.
What To Know
If you’re going to visit, it is highly suggested you plan your day in advance. You can do so right through MetroLagoons’ website. A Lagoon Day pass gets you access to the water slides and water splash zone. A full-day pass allows you to save $2 per ticket. An adult pass is $30, and a child pass is $25. If you are attending after 3 pm a late-day pass, it will cost you $25 for adults and $20 for children.
In addition, there is a wide range of water activities to enjoy. You can cruise the waters via a stand-up paddleboard or kayak. Then, you can head over to the water obstacle course. If you can’t decide which activity to go for, a “splash pass” is available. This covers all of the activities, so you can spend the entire day taking advantage of the 15 acres.
After splashing and swimming, you can relax in a cove or beach cabana. Nearby, you will find bars across the ground if you’d like a drink. Rotating food trucks are onsite as well. And starting June 27, Mirada Lagoons will host events onsite. This will consist of musical bingo, trivia nights, and live music.

5 Tampa Comedy Shows Not To Miss
While there certainly are great music tours stopping in south Florida this summer, there are also plenty of comedy tours. We’ve put together a list of some of top upcoming comedy shows in the Tampa area that are not to be missed.
From Coastal Comedy Night to Pride-themed comedy shows in June to a plethora of open mic options, Tampa certainly offers options to catch stand-up. Many comedians are engaging in extensive tours. The previous three years were challenging for comedy shows, given the lack of outdoor venues that are suitable for such shows. Now, there is comedians performing almost every night of the week.
Where To Go?
The greater Tampa Bay region of western Florida has a wide range of comedy theater options. Venues such as Tampa Improv and the Gimmick in Ybor City obviously specialize in such stand-up shows. Then, the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Event Center draws some of the biggest names in the business. Finally, intimate clubs such as the Tampa Theatre and Spitfire Comedy House continuously book creative performances.
If you’re interested in taking comedy classes, it’s never too late to sharpen your skills. Spitfire Comedy offers that as well. Stand-up and sketch comedy classes are offered for all skill and experience levels. In fact, if you want to test the waters, you can just “drop in” on Sunday afternoons at a small cost.
What’s On Tap?
We could all use a good reason to belly laugh. The Washington Post reported earlier this year that the “contagious nature of laughter means we’re more likely to laugh harder and longer in groups, as at a comedy club or in a movie theater.” The study went on to detail that laughing together is a valuable form of direct communication.
So please welcome to the stage five upcoming comedy shows in Tampa that are not to be missed.
