This New Kickstarter App Will Show Everything You Need To Know About Breast Cancer
When you think of a lemon, you probably do not associate it with breast cancer. Worldwide Breast Cancer is changing the way we view the fruit.
The Know Your Lemons Breast Exam app is hoping to educate women on how to do a breast self-exam. By using the image of the Mona Lisa or Napoleon, they remind you of breast changes and when to book your mammogram.

Know Your Lemons also tailors the exam to the user’s risk level of cancer. When you first sign up, the app will ask you a series of questions. This is to assess your personal risk of breast cancer and how the app can best tailor an exam around your life. All plans are based on what the experts are saying about exams in the country.
Mona Lisa or Napoleon will talk you through a breast exam and will remind you every month. The app typically nudges three days after your menstrual cycle, which, according to the app, is “the prime time for self-exams”.
You can also book mammograms by entering your zip code. You will not have to worry about remembering when your last mammogram was, the app will remind you.
While performing your self-exam, if you do find a lump, do not fret! The app will explain the difference in lumps and will show you the twelve different signs of breast cancer. The app visually describes the signs by using twelve different lemons.

The app was created by Corrine Ellsworth Beaumont in the hopes that it would reduce deaths from this disease by 25% by 2025. So far, the campaign has “reached millions around the world in over 70 countries.” They are hoping to expand the language selection so that people all over the world can be educated.
