If you want to treat yourself to some summer fun, now is the time to do it! Governor Ron DeSantis recently signed a tax relief plan that is expecting Floridians to save over $2.7 billion in sales tax. The 2023 Florida Freedom Summer Sales Tax Holiday allows people to buy different things with no sales tax.

In addition to the Freedom Summer Sales tax holiday, the plan also includes other tax holidays throughout the year, including:

  • Two disaster preparedness sales tax holidays (May 27-June 9 AND August 26 through September 8.)
  • Two back-to-school tax holiday periods (July 24 – August 6, 2023, AND Jan. 1-14, 2024)
  • The Tools and Equipment sales tax holiday (Sept. 2 – Sept. 8, 2023)

In a statement about signing the plans, DeSantis says “I will continue to push smart fiscal policy that will allow Florida families to keep more of their hard-earned money in their pockets.”

There is a catch to the Freedom Summer Tax Holiday. Some of the items listed have to be a certain price in order it to qualify. Meaning if it has a sales price of over $500, then it is not tax exempt.

Here are some of the things you can buy during Freedom Summer Tax Holiday. To see the full list of items, click here.
