Viola Davis’ portrayal of Michelle Obama in Showtime’s series The First Lady which debuted on Sunday (April 17) is not going over too well on Twitter.

Fans of the former First Lady of the United States couldn’t help but notice how Davis repeatedly pursed her lips. In one scene in particular fans pointed out the overexaggerated portrayal was when the How To Get Away With Murder star was talking to O-T Fagbenle, who plays Barack Obama.

Talking to Vanity Fair, Davis said she listened to her podcasts “over 100 times” and watched many videos to copy Obama’s body gestures.  “Michelle Obama was the first black woman in the White House, and she was perceived to be angry, hostile, overly masculine, and not feminine enough. There is so much scrutiny that first ladies have to deal with.”

The First Lady follows three wives of presidents across three different decades — Obama, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Gerald Ford. The First Lady airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on Showtime.
