Is Lorde The Next Target For A Taylor Swift Feud?
Lorde, you should probably watch yourself. You’re getting dangerously close to having Taylor Swift try to END YOU.
Granted, Lorde isn’t trying to “sabotage an entire tour out from under” Taylor Swift, but man, has she been vocal about not associating herself with her former pal.
First, she tells The Guardian that being friends with Taylor Swift “It’s like having a friend with very specific allergies. There are certain places you can’t go together. Certain things you can’t do. There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship. It’s like having a friend with an autoimmune disease.”
No harm, no foul.
But now, she has gone further, saying in an interview for Sunrise when posed the question of being friends with Taylor Swift or Beyonce, that “I don’t hang out with these people at all.” When reporter David Koch AKA Kochie mentioned that Lorde was in Taylor’s “squad,” she wriggles in the chair and makes un-typable noises. She also laughed at the comment.
Okay- HOLD UP.
I’m all for Lorde being her own person because personally, I find Taylor Swift’s “Squad Title” to be toxic to anyone, let alone toxic to just be associated with her. Think of it like this, Kendall Jenner. Karlie Kloss. Selena Gomez. They’ve all found some way to step away from Taylor. And poor Tom Hiddleston for being made a mockery for dating the girl. But when you publicly say things about Taylor Swift, she comes after you, somehow, some way. Watch yourself, Ella!

And they also point out that Taylor has only broken her social media silence for Lorde’s Single “Green Light,” as well as Haim‘s newest song at the time.

Taylor also did not do her annual 4th of July party, and the entire world was looking for her annual photographs to go along with it – and none were posted. She basically went into hiding shortly after the Kim Kardashian / Kanye West feud where Kim released video of Taylor talking to Kanye on the phone about his song “Famous,” sharing the lines with her from the song so she wasn’t blindsided. Between that and everyone zeroing in on her relationship with Tom Hiddleston, she basically disappeared off the planet.
There have been whispers that she’s dating someone else, but that’s about it for the notes on Taylor’s life.
As far as Lorde is concerned, if she keeps being super public about not being close with Taylor Swift, after Swift has made it look like Lorde is one of her best buddies, there will be some sort of retaliation if somehow (read: likely) Taylor finds it to be a straight up insult.
The more time goes on, Taylor Swift’s public narrative turns into a Darla Dimple type character from Cats Don’t Dance, power hungry, evil, but pretends to be sweet on the inside.
