Eminem’s Kamikaze Easily Headed To No. 1 Debut, New Projections Put Slim Shady In Rare ’18 Territory
New Billboard projections say that Eminem’s album, Kamikaze is set to move over 360,000 equivalent album units, that’s 160,000 more than the previous projections. The new projection would give Eminem the fifth largest debut week for 2018.
Other albums such as Drake’s Scorpion moved 732,000 units, Travis Scott’s ASTROWORLD came in at 537,000 units, Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys with 461,000 units, and J. Cole’s KOD with 397,000 units.
Eminem’s Revival did 267,000 units in 2017 so the projections for Kamikaze is a big improvement for the 45-year-old rapper. The controversy surrounding Eminem’s lyrics who came at artists like Tyler, the Creator, Machine Gun Kelly, Lil Yachty, and Ja Rule may account for the rise in streams, Tyler has remained silent, Yachty was happy about the mention and MGK put out a who diss track entitled, Rap Devil.
MGK tweeted about why he created the diss track, “I’m standing up for not just myself, but my generation. I’m doing the same shit you did back in your day. Life is still real on my side, and I had to take time from the grind to defend myself from someone I called an idol.”
