Storm-force winds will be moving onshore of the Outer Banks of North Carolina and life-threatening storm surge and rainfall expected.
Current location 33.1 N, 75.1 W, about 170 miles east-southeast of Wilmington, North Carolina, about 220 miles east of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Maximum sustained winds 110 mph.
Present movement northwest at 12 mph.

Location 15.2 N, 60.9 W, about 25 miles east of Dominica, about 80 miles south-southeast of Guadeloupe.

Helene has staretd to weaken while moving northward over the eastern Atlantic.

An Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft is scheduled to investigate the disturbance later today, if necessary.
Regardless of development, heavy rainfall and gusty winds are expected across portions of northeastern Mexico, Texas, and Louisiana late this week.
