Judge Denies City Girls’ JT Early Prison Release
The City Girls’ JT won’t be released from prison early.A judge has denied the City Girls star’s attempt at an early prison release, reports The Blast.
JT, whose real name is Jatavia Johnson, filed documents to request an early release from a Tallahassee prison so that the “Take Yo Man” rapper could be placed in halfway house so that she can get back to her music career.

As of July 12, 2019, JT will have completed “15.6 months (12 months plus 3.6 months earned good time credit), thereby leaving 8.4 months of her prison sentence to be served,” according to Rap Up.
The City Girls member’s lawyer has attempted to use JT’s newfound notoriety and musical success as the reason for her request for an early release.
“They have grown an intense fan base and have developed relationships with the elite of the elite,” he said. “It is without hesitation that I can proffer that you will never hear from this Defendant regarding any type of crime, much less an economic one. Granting this recommendation will allow the Defendant to get back to the studio where she belongs.”
However, the judge denied the motion, but there’s still hope for a potential early release. The final word is up to the Bureau of Prisons.
JT started serving a two-year prison sentence for charges related to felony identity theft in June 2018. The rapper will have to complete one year of probation once she’s released.
“It’s gonna go by fast,” she told Rap-Up in one of her last interviews before turning herself in on June 29. “Nobody will probably even notice I’m gone like that…Well, they’ll notice I’m gone because I tweet a lot and they probably gon’ miss that.”
