Diddy: Should He Bring Back MTV’s ‘Making The Band’?
Diddy took to Instagram on Monday to announce that MTV gave him a call stating that the TV network is interested in rebooting Diddy’s old reality TV show, Making the Band the show that was infamous for, among other things, an episode where the music mogul made contestants walk from Manhatttan to Brooklyn to retrieve cheesecake for the music mogul.

Diddy started off his video by saying that “something interesting” happened on Monday morning.
“Years ago, I did something that will probably go down in television history. Will go down in television history. This show called Making the Band,” Diddy said.
Diddy said that he’s trying to figure out his schedule for the next two years, and he has a lot of things that he’s involved in and will be announcing.
“MTV called me out of nowhere and was like, ‘ aye. what do you think about partnering on bringing Making the Band back?’” Diddy continued. “I don’t think that there’s a lot of new upcoming artists that can really handle my level of intense coaching, and teaching, and preparation, and the way I mold and shape superstars, so I’m kind of on the fence about it and I need your help.”
Diddy stated that he told MTV, “First of all, do you have the level of bag that I need for that to happen?” The founder of Bad Boy Entertainment said that MTV told him “yes,” they can give him the amount of money that he wants for the partnership.
Diddy then said that he told the network, “I have some concerns because I don’t want to go back and be doing things, tarnishing my legacy.”
He went on to say that there’s a lot of people who love the show, and some people who might have heard about the cheesecake, fights, etc. but didn’t have a chance to experience the show.
Before concluding his video message, the record producer, music executive, and entrepreneur told his followers that if they’re interested in bringing the show back to hit him up on social media by using the hashtag “IWantMyMTB”.
“Sh*t. Y’all thought the cheesecake was something. Y’all ain’t seen nothing, ” Diddy said before signing off and telling his 14.6 million followers to have a “beautiful Monday.”

Making the Band originally debuted in 2000 on ABC, and aired for three seasons while being centered around the group O-Town.
In 2002, it moved to MTV and centered around the hip-hop group Da Band, which was composed of Sara Stokes, Dylan Dilinjah, Freddy P, Chopper, Ness, and Babs.
In later seasons, the groups Danity Kane, Day26, and Donnie Klang were formed on the series. The show went on hiatus in 2009, and during the following year, it was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for “Outstanding Reality Program” during the 21st GLAAD Media Awards.
