There’s very exciting news for Prince fans. The Prince Estate, in partnership with Warner Records, recently announced that Prince’s iconic album, 1999 will be remastered and expanded.
On November 29, 2019, the album 1999, will be reissued via all physical, digital, and streaming partners, according to a press release. The popular album will be remastered for the very first time and will come alongside 35 previously unreleased tracks from the Purple One’s legendary vault.
- Super Deluxe Edition (5CD+DVD / 10LP+DVD / audio-only download and streaming)
- Deluxe Edition (2CD / 4LP 180g vinyl / download and streaming)
- Remastered album (1CD / 2LP 180g Purple Vinyl / download and streaming)
The Super Deluxe Edition of the timeless album “represents the deepest dive to date into Prince’s vault” and comes with 65 audio tracks that are broken up between five CDs and ten 180g vinyl records.
The Super Deluxe Edition also offers fans all of the audio tracks that Prince officially released in circa 1982. In addition to those tracks, the SDE also includes 23 previously unissued studio tracks that were recorded between 1981 and 1983 and a complete live audio performance of the Detroit stop of the 1999 tour.
Both the CD and vinyl sets of the 1999 reissue come with a brand-new DVD that contains another complete, previously unreleased concert from the 1999 tour that was recorded at the Houston Summit in December of 1982.
Prince’s previously unseen handwritten lyrics for a myriad of songs from the era are also included in the SDE, including “Little Red Corvette.” Images of the analog tape reels from the vault and rare photography from Prince’s photographer, Allen Beaulieu are also included.
Prince’s 1999 dropped during a huge turning point in his career. Prince had previously charted the R&B charts, and singles from 1999 helped the artist to crossover. Big hits like “Little Red Corvette,” “1999,” and “Delirious” assisted Prince in breaking barriers with his fusion of rock, funk, R&B, and new wave pop.
