Kelly Clarkson Celebrated Her Prenup Validation While Filming ‘The Voice’
Kelly Clarkson is celebrating good news of her prenup status while she was on the set of The Voice.
The judge assigned to Clarkson’s divorce case validated her prenup. While filming for the musical talent competition show, Clarkson let out a scream of happiness, gossip website TMZ reports.
Sources say Kelly was filming for The Voice yesterday (August 11) when she got an email saying the hotly-contested prenup was upheld in full by the judge. The prenup segregates all assets and income derived during her marriage to Brandon Blackstock are separate.
Kelly accumulated the majority of assets, including the Montana ranch where Blackstock is currently living rent-free. He was contesting the prenup and wanted their properties split, along with income she earned during their marriage, but the judge denied that.
Apparently, the celebration on the set of The Voice got personal, with sources telling the gossip site that co-judge Blake Shelton had recently terminated his relationship with Blackstock, who managed him for years. The other judges who were there (John Legend and Ariana Grande) also took part in celebrating Clarkson’s victory.
Clarkson’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, had argued during the trial on the prenup that there had to be accountability when someone signs a contract, to which the judge ultimately agreed based on his decision.
The divorce has been “bifurcated,” (legal ending of a marriage granted without sorting through finances or assets) expecting finalization within days. In November, Clarkson was awarded primary custody on a temporary basis since Blackwell moved out of state.
As we reported previously, a Los Angeles County judge ordered Clarkson to give Blackstock $150,000 per month in spousal support, as well as $45,601 per month in child support, to receive a total sum of $195,601.
