Astroworld Day 1 Ends in Eight Deaths, Eleven in Cardiac Arrest
Travis Scott’s first night of his Astroworld concert in Houston turned into a horrific tragedy last night (November 5) as at least eight people died and hundreds injured.
Eleven people who went into cardiac arrest were rushed to the hospital and over 300 festival-goers went to the nearby field hospital. Gossip website TMZ reports that 50,000 people attended the sold-out venue and at around 9 PM people began rushing toward the stage. People started getting crushed, where panic ensued — Houston Fire Chief Sam Pena said, “People began to fall out, become unconscious and it created additional panic.”
Sources told the gossip site that at least one of the victims was seen foaming at the mouth before going into cardiac arrest — showing evidence this was not simply a stampede. A source connected to Astroworld said someone in the crowd went crazy and began injecting people with some sort of drug, which caused panic and then a surge. The source says authorities are trying to determine if those who went into cardiac arrest were the ones injected. The source claims it appears to be a targeted attack, which has yet to be confirmed.
People were posting footage of Scott continuing his performance as he saw people passing out.

Travis Scott issued a statement on social media this morning writing, “I am absolutely devastated by what took place last night. My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival.”
He went on to say that “Houston PD has my total support as they continue to look into the tragic loss of life.”
“I am committed to working together with the Houston community to heal and support the families in need. Thank you to Houston PD, Fire Department and NRG Park for their immediate response and support. Love You All,” Scott concluded his statement.

One Twitter user responded to Scott’s statement by calling out the understaffed event, “poorly managed and overcrowded. People broke in with no tickets. The whole show shouldve stopped at that moment. Rip to those who passed away this is heartbreaking.”
