Janet Jackson Refutes Claim She Threw Shade At Nicki Minaj
Janet Jackson is not here for any drama. The pop icon cleared her name in any wrongdoing; some Nicki Minaj’s fans – the “Barbz” – felt that she was throwing shade at Minaj. On Tuesday (Sept. 5), Janet dropped a throwback photo of herself wearing a white oversized jacket that she captioned “#fashhhionn.”

However, some fans took offense to Janet sharing the throwback picture and depicted it as shade towards Nicki Minaj who recently wore a similar jacket in her cover for Pink Friday 2.
One fan stirred the pot by calling Janet out for the alleged shade, “Got something u wanna say grandma?” the fan wrote.
However, a Janet fan page swooped in to help the icon with the negative comments.
“#janfam sees no shade here. She’s showing off her fashion,” the fan page wrote.
Janet commented with her own response, “[red heart emoji] It’s a shame that people want to pit one artist against another.”
Nicki caught wind of the drama and reposted Janet’s tweet.
“Icon. Legend. Royalty. The original definition of #ICanBeAllTheWayCoveredItsSTILLgivingSEXY [white heart emoji],” Nicki wrote.

The drama comes on the heels of Nicki’s upcoming album Pink Friday 2. She shared some of the cover art earlier this week. The image shows her standing on a pink subway above pink clouds overlooking New York City.
The album, set to be released in November, got postponed from its original October release date. Nicki told fans that the delay will be worth the wait.
“Dear Barbz,” Nicki began in the caption of the Instagram post addressing her fanbase. “I’ve been trying to find the right time to tell you this for a few days. Due to some really exciting news that I’ll share with you guys @ a later time, I’ve shifted the album date just a tad bit. Trust me, it’ll be WELL WORTH THE WAIT…but since I AM shifting the date just a tad, I’d like to give you guys a tiny SIP of some more album tea so that I don’t have to get cussed out [sad emoji] so…here it goes: [pink bow emoji] MY NEW ALBUM WILL BE RELEASED ON 11.17.23.”
