Beyoncé Shares Surprise New Song ‘My House’
On the heels of her London Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé premiere, Beyonce shared a surprise new song at midnight. “My House” is the first solo record for the multi-hyphenate entertainer since the release of Renaissance last year.
Renaissance included 16 tracks and is part one of three acts.
“This three act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic,” Beyoncé wrote on her website at the time. “A time to be still, but also a time I found to be the most creative.”
“Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving,” she expressed. “My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration.”
While there were no music videos to accompany the album, Beyoncé released a surprise EP containing four remixes of “Break My Soul,” the lead single from Renaissance. The EP included versions of “Break My Soul” with the Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am, Chicago house icon Terry Hunter, global electronic DJ/ producer Honey Dijon, and New York-bred DJ and producer Nita Aviance. She later released a fifth remix featuring Madonna.
She also released a remix to “America Has A Problem” with Kendrick Lamar. The pair performed it for the first time live during her Los Angeles stop for the Renaissance World Tour.
In May, Beyoncé kicked off her first solo tour since 2018. She had guest appearances from Lamar, Megan Thee Stallion, Diana Ross, and her daughter Blue Ivy. The tour wrapped in October, and she announced that Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé would arrive Dec. 1 at AMC Theaters.
