Mystic And Mayhem: ‘Rarest Alligators In The World’ On Display In Florida
A few months ago, Gatorland welcomed two of the ‘rarest alligators in the world’ into the world. Now Mystic and Mayhem, some of the ‘rarest alligators in the world’, are on full display to the public right here in Florida.
Mystic and Mayehm were both born back in December and are the first leucistic alligators hatched outside of Louisiana. Mystic is an especially rare gator because she is fully white with blue eyes.
Not to be confused with albino gators. Albino gators are missing melanin which gives them white skin and red eyes. Leucistic gators have a loss of skin pigmentation that doesn’t affect the eyes. That is why Mystic has blue eyes.

Mystic And Mayhem: Leucistic Gators At Gatorland
These two rare gators made their way into their new home this week in a $50,000 specialty habitat at Gatrorland in Orlando. Their new habitat will protect their skin with ultraviolet lighting, temperature controlled, and will allow for normal growth and vitamin production.
The specialty habitat made for these two leucistic gators is filled with natural elements like tree branches, moss, swimming areas, rocks, and more. This gives them plenty of space to hang out or chill on their own.
Mark McHugh, President & CEO of Gatorland said, “This is incredibly special for us here at Gatorland to have these two amazing, rare baby alligators in public view in our White Gator Swamp. Our visitors get to experience something they will never see anywhere else but here at Gatorland. Mystic and Mayhem are just steps away from our adult leucistic gators so guests can see the babies, then turn around and see the giant adults.
Mystic, one of the rarest white leucistic gators in the world, currently weighs in at only 177 grams and is 420mm long. Mayhem, her smaller brother, clocks in at 146 grams and is 400mm long.
Mystic and Mayhem eat small pieces of raw chicken and Croc Chow pellets. These pellets are made specifically to help supplement natural nutrition.
