My WiLD Night At Ivy Rose Nightclub
Last Thursday, I DJ’d at Tampa’s hot spot, Ivy Rose Nightclub, which is on Fowler right down the street from USF. From the minute I plugged in my laptop and dropped my first record, it was clear that this wasn’t just another night out, it was a full-on celebration of the USF students being back on campus and bringing back their drive to party and reignite Tampa’s nightlife.
Walking into Ivy Rose, you’re immediately hit with a burst of energy. The venue, is huge! With 2 rooms that are walkable, and it’s only 10pm. The sound system was on point and the set by the opening DJ set everything up for me to take over perfectly. As I hopped on the set, I could feel the energy in the air. This wasn’t just any crowd; it was a bunch of USF students, fresh from a summer break and ready to make up for the lost time.
The dance floor was packed, full of life and the crowd having a good time. From the moment I dropped the first record, it was like a switch flipped. The energy shot up when I dropped Drake’s “Rich Baby Daddy,” and the entire room came alive. The crowd was dancing and taking out their phones recording themselves on TikTok with their friends, letting loose and fully enjoying the night. I mixed in a few throwback anthems and some timeless songs too that kept the crowd moving throughout the night.
One of the highlights of the night was the incredible vibe among the USF crowd. I rarely ever get to play for a college crowd, and it was fun to dive back in that college party “bag.” The fun that was had was contagious, creating a night that felt both intimate and lit. It was clear that the students were not just back, they were ready to rage and make the most of every track I ran through.
I couldn’t help but feel a sense of accomplishment. Ivy Rose had proven to be the perfect backdrop for an awesome night out, and the USF students had shown they were more than ready to dive back into Tampa’s nightlife scene. Thanks to Niko & Muto for booking me that night, and I hope to come back and light up the club again.
