Offset Says He Won’t Be Taking The COVID-19 Vaccine And Doesn’t Trust It
Today is Offset’s birthday, but he’s getting attention for something other than the fact that he’s now one year older. He’s raised eyebrows over recent comments about the COVID-19 vaccine.
“I don’t trust it, though,” he said in a recent interview. “You ain’t see the little app? The little thing online where the people face turning to the side? Yeah, I just don’t wanna be the test dummy.”
He is referring to the photo making its way around the internet that shows volunteers who took the vaccine and developed Bell’s palsy as a result.
4 Pfizer COVID vaccine volunteers develop facial paralysis. This is damage to the muscles that causes one side of your face to droop or become stiff permanently. This is just one of the "side effects". Now you know why everyone needs to wear masks?!https://t.co/zWMnE9cDzr pic.twitter.com/87AnTscKec

Reuters reports that a briefing from the FDA states that there were four cases of Bell’s Palsy (a sudden weakness or freezing of muscles on one side of the face) among those who received the vaccine. In most cases, Bell’s Palsy is temporary. The briefing says that the frequency of Bell’s Palsy in the vaccine group (of 44,000 people) is “consistent with the expected background rate in the general population,” adding there is “no clear basis upon which to conclude a causal relationship at this time.” The FDA said it would, however, recommend “surveillance” for cases of Bell’s Palsy as the vaccine is sent out to larger groups of people.
Offset also said in the interview that just because Barack Obama is taking the vaccine on camera, it won’t change his opinion. “Nah, ’cause you know, in reality, we blessed. Certain people in certain opportunities get certain things,” he said.
He mentioned how unfair it is that celebrities get preferential treatment over normal people. “If I go to the hospital here, they’re gonna admit me fast, they’re gonna get me faster than the normal person, which ain’t really fair. So, me seeing [Obama] do that wouldn’t make me feel like I still wanna do it myself.”
