Michael Jai White Reveals His Son Died From COVID-19 ‘Months Ago’
During an interview with VladTV, actor Michael Jai White revealed that his family has suffered a loss, the death of his oldest son “just a few months ago”.
The actor said that his son wasn’t feeling well and with a compromised system from substance abuse, COVID-19 was “waiting for him” and that it was the “final blow.” The martial artist also mentioned that there was still a “street element” in his 38-year-old son.
“Unfortunately, the street element was still part of his life growing up,” said White. “He was in the hospital for a while so it wasn’t immediate. Unfortunately, he was still kinda out there in the streets hustling, wasn’t doing well, started getting on substances. He’d come out, go back in, all that type of stuff.”
White shared that he had his son when he was 15 years old, saying that the two had “grown up together.”
The Why Did I Get Married? alum said that he tried to do his best for his son, but “ultimately, it’s up to that person, especially if it’s a grown person.” White’s son left behind six children.
The actor is the father to five other children and states that he claims his wife’s children from her previous marriage as well.
