DaBaby Ghosts HIV/AIDS Organizations After August Meeting
Looks like DaBaby is doing da bare minimum.
Three AIDS organizations have called out the rapper on his failure to donate the money he promised to donate after the homophobic comments he made back in August.
DaBaby was performing his set at Rolling Loud when he made homophobic remarks and comments that spread harmful misinformation about HIV/AIDS. He lost a lot of sponsorships and was dropped from several festivals during that time, and the “Rockstar” rapper eventually met with nine HIV/AIDS organizations to educate himself. However, it seems that he has not followed through with some of the donations that he said he’d make to those organizations.
On Wednesday, which marked World AIDS Day, the Daily Beast published a piece noting of the nine organizations he met with, three said they have not heard from him since the meeting. The other six did not respond.
“Since then, we have not received any outreach, partnership, or funding from DaBaby,” Pavni Guharoy at the Black AIDS Institute told the Daily Beast. “The onus is now on him, if he chooses to, to convert his misinformation into allyship by supporting the work of the Black AIDS Institute and other people of color-led HIV organizations.”
DaBaby has not publicly addressed the incident.
