Yes, Florida is getting a handful of new spots to get your favorite cheesesteak. Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks has announced new lease signings in Florida, South Carolina and Georgia. This brand has gone a long way in just a few years. Derrick Hayes founded the now-popular cheesesteak brand inside a gas station in Dunwoody, Georgia, in 2014, so it’s only been around about a decade, and it’s growing.
Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks is expanding ten units in Florida. They’re starting out with a site in Oviedo at The Park development on Mitchell-Hammock Road. A specific address is pending. “This is a very exciting time for Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks and all stakeholders. Growth potential for Big Dave’s on a local, regional, and national level is sky high,” Central Florida franchisee Derek Lewis said, via qsrmagazine.com, regarding the expansion and Florida locations. In total, Big Dave’s will open 16 new stores across Georgia, Florida and South Carolina. Stay tuned for information on the other sites opening up, including Florida locations.
The fact Big Dave’s is expanding so much over the next few years makes it appear to be one of the casual food chains on the rise. Of the expansions, Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks President, Jessie Bray, commented. “These new signings mark a major milestone for our company and our franchise partners.” He added, “It speaks to the hard work of our team and dedication of our franchisees to grow this brand at an amazing rate.”
If you’re wondering why Big Dave’s tastes so authentic, it’s because it has Philly roots. Hayes, its founder, was born and raised in West Philadelphia. “The entrepreneur spent much of his upbringing in the kitchen with his grandfather where he garnered his culinary knowledge by assisting with Sunday dinners and crafting flavorful dishes through the mixture of seasonings and spices,” their story says. “After facing personal hardships, Derrick was given a second chance that inspired him to change the trajectory of his life.” So, he moved to Atlanta, where the cheesesteaks just weren’t as tasty as they were in Philly, and he brought that goodness to them.
