Issa Rae’s ‘Rap S—’ Releases HBO Max Teaser
Issa Rae’s Rap S— has finally released an official trailer!
The comedy series is slated to premiere on July 21 with two episodes, as the trailer below mentions. The season will have eight episodes that will air weekly and the season one finale will arrive ahead of Labor Day weekend on Sept. 1.
As we previously reported, Rap S— follows two estranged high school best friends Shawna and Mia played by Aida Osman and KaMillion respectively. The Miami-based comedy centers on the two women starting a rap group and navigating their newfound friendship. The show will also display the difficulties women face as they break into the hip-hop industry. Rap S—‘s season premiere was written by Rae, and the Miami-bred rap duo City Girls will serve as executive producers.
Rae previously explained that she looks at the shows she’s created as part of her “discography”: “With Rap S—, this is kind of like my sophomore album—I consider Awkward Black Girl as my mixtape and Insecure my first album. So with this one, there is pressure, but I’m really excited about it. I hope that people have an open mind—it’s such a fun show.”
