2023 Florida Disaster Prep Sales Tax Holiday Item List
It might be perfect timing. Florida could see some wild weather in the middle of next week and tomorrow (August 26, 2023) the Disaster Prep Sales Tax Holiday begins. You have until September 8 to shop for some essentials to get you through the storm. But you might not want to wait until September 8 with Tampa forecasters thinking we could get a tropical storm Tuesday or Wednesday.
Here are some of the items you can get sales-tax free through September 8, 2023:
$20 or less: reusable ice packs
$30 or less: laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, soap, wipes
$40 or less: self-powered lights, candles, and flashlights
$50 or less: portable and two-way radios
$60 or less: coolers and power banks
$70 or less: smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers
$3,000 or less: portable generators used for light or communication or to preserve food
There is NO limit on the number of qualifying items you can purchase. Rental or repair of any of the items above is NOT part of the sales tax holiday.
