The Publix Tampa Bay Buccaneers Pub Sub Is Back
Publix is out with their team-inspired subs for Florida’s 3 NFL teams. Subs make great tailgate food and no matter which team is yours, there’s a Pub Sub customized to them.
For Jacksonville Jaguars fans, there’s a smoky sub that has cole slaw and barbecue mayo. The Atlanta Falcons-inspired Pub Sub has a sweet maple seasoning. Miami Dolphins fans can chomp on a variation of the Cuban with a lemon garlic aioli. But what about the sub for Bucs fans?
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Pub Sub surprisingly is NOT a Cuban sandwich. Is Publix saying Miami is the spot for Cubans and we’re not!? I’m a little irk’d by that. Tampa is THE home of the Cuban Sandwich so why did Miami get one and we didn’t?
The Bucs Pub Sub does sound appetizing though. And in Publix’s defense, when the Chicken Tenders Pub Sub goes on sale, it does start a social media frenzy. So it might be of no surprise that the Tampa Bay Pub Sub features those famous Publix Deli Chicken Tenders. Then they add Boar’s Head fully cooked bacon, Publix Deli Imported Cheddar Cheese, a Spicy Gold sauce, lettuce and tomato. While I don’t see how those ingredients speak exclusively to Tampa Bay, it sounds good. Maybe we’re extra spicy? I don’t know. And I like that they use the premium stuff from Boar’s Head. Maybe that’s a tribute to the hoity toity brand name-obsessed South Tampa crowd?
