Florida Among Best States for Tippers in the Country
Tipping is one of those topics that has a lot of people chiming in to give their opinions. Does the cashier at Jimmy John’s really deserve a tip? That’s for you to decide, but recently USA Today released their list of the best and worst states for tipping and the results were across the board. Florida has some of the best tippers in the country sitting at number 3 on the list.
These days it’s become normal for almost every business to flip around their iPad and ask customers for tips. It has become a huge debate recently because businesses that usually wouldn’t ask for this, are leaving customers with an uneasy feeling and the cashier lingering over the counter.
The USA Today and OnePoll survey that was conducted in September 2023, found that almost half of Americans are tired of tipping. The survey showed that most people think that too many places are asking for tips.
- This survey consisted of 5,000 Americans (100 per state) and was conducted from September 11 – September 25, 2023.
- They focused on the tipping habits of Americans from different industries including dining, services, delivery, and personal care.

- The national average tip for Americans is 17.94%
- Income level is one of the biggest factors in the percentage of a tip.
