Ybor City Restaurant Closed After Only 3 Months
In the past couple of years, Tampa has seen its fair share of businesses come and go. Especially in Ybor City. Now, there’s another one to join the club. This Ybor City restaurant is closing its doors and many people are not surprised.
Ten Rooms in Ybor
After just 3 months of opening and operating, Ten Rooms is permanently closing its doors. This multifunctional space took over the historic El Centro Español de Tampa on Seventh Avenue and was highly anticipated by residents in Ybor. Some believed it would be very successful with the concept being led by Tampa Bay bar consultant/restaurateur Ro Patel and chief operating officer Zach Pace. Pace had a great track record with running operations at Michelin-starred restaurants around the country such as San Francisco’s Lazy Bear and Aphotic.
Ken Jones of Third Lake Partners told the Tampa Bay Times “While it’s disappointing that Ten Rooms is closing, we (as owners of Centro Ybor) remain committed to the vitality and vibrancy of Ybor City, its residents, and the business community,” He continued by also saying “The restaurant industry is a tough business and many concepts ultimately don’t succeed notwithstanding thoughtful planning, good intentions, creativity and curated offerings.”

Though the concept was highly anticipated, many speculated its downfall due to its drama before the restaurant ever opened. If you are unfamiliar with it, there was a split and legal battle between the original hired executive chef, Ebbe Vollmer. Ultimately, both parties ended up settling and Parker Brown was appointed executive chef.
Along with the restaurant, Genevieve the Cat, a 20-cocktail draught program was also closed as well as the bakery and specialty gift shop. There is no indication what the plans are for the historic spot, but best believe Ybor and the city of Tampa will be watching.
