Tampa Day Care Worker Arrested After Being Caught On Camera Abusing A Child
Yamirka Mendez has been arrested after being caught on camera abusing a child. Menendez is seen on camera at Wonder Academy removing a one-year-old child from a mechanical swing, swinging the child about three feet in the air and after dropping him to the floor. Due to the fall, the boy was unable to stand upright or place weight on his left foot and leg. The same victim was hit over the head multiple times by Mendez as well. The mother of the one year old took the baby to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a fracture to his tibia and fibula.Detectives worked with Wonder Daycare, reviewed the video recordings, and Menendez was arrested on September 28, 2021. Another woman who worked there, Milagros Rodriguez was arrested for not reporting the incident.
