Tampa Residents Can Now Receive Rental Assistance With New Program

Yes! A lot of us could use this right now. Wednesday a program was announced that would give Tampa renters another option for rental assistance. City leaders said the rental and move in assistance program is designed to help Tampa residents who are struggling with rental increases and paying for security deposits. The program which was set in place on March 1st will pay security deposits, first and last month as well as ongoing monthly rental subsidies.

Here’s how to qualify
1. you must live within Tampa cit limits or plan to move to the city
2. Single people Must make $72K or less a year ( There are high limits for larger house holds)

Mayor Castor said the city did look at putting rental caps in place however she said it may detour developers from the area. She said quote “If we put the caps on rents, rent stabilization that is going to kill development in our particular area. Developers are going to go to other locations throughout the United States,”
