Tampa Mother Who Was Convicted Of Killing Her Kids Has Asked The Judge For A New Trial
Reports tell us that a Tampa mother who was convicted of killing her kids 11 years ago has asked a judge for a new trial.
Julie Schenecker was given two life sentences for shooting and killing both of her children. Her son who was 13 was shot in the family SUV and her other daughter was shot in her bedroom while she did her homework.
Schenecker wants a new trial because she claims the jurors were taking naps and had already made up their minds before they even heard the evidence. Schenecker claimed she was legally insane at the time of the murder and didn’t know right from wrong. The original jury didn’t buy that claim. However, Schenecker thinks the insanity defense will work, and is hoping for a second chance with a new jury. Schenecker’s virtual hearing is set for Thursday morning.
“Her attorney strategically didn’t do things she wanted them to do that her attorneys didn’t call certain witnesses that would have helped her claim of insanity,” explained Rickman.
