Florida Residents Please Beware Of This Jury Duty Scam
Florida residents please beware of this jury duty phone scam! It’s holiday time which means there are so many scams going on. People are doing any and everything for money. This particular scam is happening down in Charlotte County. Charlotte county is about an hour from where I live in St. Petersburg.
According to NBC2 there has been a phone call scam going around Charlotte county. This has prompted the Sheriff’s office to warn the public. According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, residents have been receiving calls from a Lieutenant Perry.
Lieutenant Perry says he’s calling from the civil services division. He goes on to tell the citizen that he has an important matter to talk to them about. That matter is about them missing jury duty. The Lieutenant then tells them that if they don’t pay up for missing jury duty, they will go to jail.
According to Charlotte County Sheriffs Office, there is not a Lieutenant Perry! The Sheriffs office also tells us that they do not call people and threaten them with jail time for missing jury duty. Most importantly, they will not ask you for money either! Please don’t fall for this scam.

Be Smart
Remember there are all types of schemes going on during the holidays. Never give your credit card information out to people that you don’t know. Also avoid clicking on unknown links as well. Clicking on the wrong link could grant scammers access to all of your personal information.
Police will never ask for a payment over the phone, so don’t fall for it. Im not just speaking about the Charlotte County sheriff’s office, but all of the police organizations. Be safe this holiday season and again don’t give out your credit card info to people you don’t know.
