Tampa: The NHL Mobile Museum Experience Is Coming To Amalie Arena
The Tampa Bay Lighting will finish out the month of February with a unique schedule. To start, the leap year extra day includes a home game vs. the Buffalo Sabers. In addition, on February 28 and 29, the NHL Mobile Museum Experience will be stopping in Tampa.
Imagine if this NHL museum was a legendary band that is hitting the road and embarking on an American tour. That’s essentially what’s happening here. Under the tagline of “United By Hockey,” the NHL explains this by saying, “The MOBILE MUSEUM EXPERIENCE celebrates hockey’s CHANGEMAKERS and BUSINESS LEADERS, spanning across multiple underrepresented and multicultural demographics.” In fact, this rolling NHL fan experience has already canvassed much of the country.
The tour route started all the way back in October, launching in Ottawa. After going all across Canada, the U.S. portion then started in Denver on November 14. From there, a long route through the west with stops at the Winter Classic and All-Star weekend, the tour eventually made its way east.
Here Is What You Can Expect In Tampa With The NHL Mobile Museum
“Spanning 840 square feet, the museum offers an exclusive glimpse into the sport’s history, featuring artifacts from players of various backgrounds, captivating video components, and a spotlight on the next generation of hockey stars, NHL Officials, broadcasters, and women making significant strides in the game,” That’s So Tampa explained.
Some of the museum exhibits that the NHL has highlighted here include the “Game Changers” section that shows fans all the adaptive forms in which hockey is played. Then, “United Voice” gives you the opportunity to hear how individuals of color have experienced the sport. A Virtual Reality section will allow you to get onto the ice with Malik Jones.
Ultimately, this tour aims to raise awareness that the sport of hockey is for everyone. There is a large educational component to the museum exhibits, allowing fans to learn new elements of the game’s history while also being a part of pushing the game forward.
After Tampa, the NHL Mobile Museum Experience will hit the Florida Panther on March 6 and 7. In total, the tour will run until mid-April, concluding in Chicago.
