Tampa Mother Still Missing After Her Alleged Kidnapper Was Found Dead

“Tampa mother still missing after her alleged kidnapper was found dead.” This story hit’s close to home because as you know I live in St. Petersburg which is in the Tampa Bay area. The alleged suspect who is now dead was said to have kidnapped the woman and her 9-year-old daughter. The daughter has been found safe, but where is the mother? Hopefully she will be found soon.

Tampa Woman Still Missing But Her Daughter Was Found Safe

Police tell us that the 9-year-old Tampa girl has been located but her mother is still missing after being allegedly kidnapped. On Monday, The Florida Department Of Law Enforcement issued an amber alert for 9-year-old Briana Pagan. The search only lasted for one hour after she was safely located. The alert was issued after her and her mother disappeared from the 10400 block of Altman Street in Tampa on Sunday.

Tampa Police officials believed the child was with her mother Sylvia Pagan and their alleged kidnapper Jovanni Caceres Steffani. Reports say it looks like Steffani headed north on I-75 ( Suwannee County) with Pagan and her daughter. The daughter was located at a hotel, but her mother was no where to be found.

The Alleged Suspect Took His Own Life

Steffani went into the bathroom and took his own life when the police arrived. Police say they tried to talk to him for an hour before he sot himself. At this time the mother, Sylvia Pagans whereabouts are unknown. Police say they are deeply concerned about her well-being. Which Florida City Made The List With Highest Murder Rates In U.S.

There’s lots to love about the Sunshine State, but we’re also notorious for the craziest crimes. One Florida city even ranked in the top 15 for highest murder rates in America. It’s not really a list we love to see Florida on, but we can’t say we’re not surprised with all the insane stuff that happens here.

Our friends at neighboorhoodscout.com ranked the top 30 cities in the country with the highest murder rates per 1,000 residents. They condensed their research by including cities with 25,000 or more people. They collected their data by the number of murders reported to the FBI to have occurred in each city, and the population of each city. The city population data comes straight from the US Bureau of the Census at the time of each analysis. For instance, the 2022 list population uses 2020 population figures. The 2021 list uses 2019 figures, and so forth.

There were 14 new cities making the list this year. “The newcomer on this list with the highest murder rate is Saginaw, MI. The number of murders in Saginaw more than doubled from the previous year.” Thankfully (and surprisingly) only one Florida city was ranked in the research.
