The Navy Lifts Ban on Dreadlocks, Ponytails & Buns for Women
The U.S. Navy is relaxing rules for hairstyles of female sailors.
Women are now allowed to wear dreadlocks, ponytails and styled buns while in uniform. The announcement came during a live Navy Facebook broadcast on July 10th. The Navy gathered opinions of six female sailors about the new grooming standards.
The hairstyles are being permitted as long as it’s not an occupational hazard. Men will still be required to keep their hair short.
